Submissions to Red River Writes

There is no charge for getting your writing samples and bios on Red River Writes. We want writers of all genres and walks of life to participate. Red River Writes is not competitive - no one will be critiqued or turned down based on the quality of their work. Just remember that since the purpose of this site is to showcase regional writers, the quality of what you post can reflect on the entire local literary scene. By sending some of your best work, you are doing both yourself and the scene a favor.

Previously published work is okay, as long as you own the copyright (vs. the publication it appeared in owning the copyright). If you are claiming the copyright to a submission, please also send the copyright date.

When you submit, you should send:
1. Your name, email, and website address, if available. Alternatively, you can ask that mail sent to you from readers of the site go through the webmaster. Please specify this when you send in your submission.
2. Any other contact information you want to make available, such as a phone number or PO Box. Street addresses are not recommended.
3. A brief bio with basic information about you and your writing career.
3. A .jpg photo (optional).
4. The categories you want to be included in.
5. ONE writing sample for each category you select. Include the title and the original date and place of publication, if applicable.

A note for novelists: You can make as much of your novel available from this website as you want to, but if it is more than a 600-word excerpt, please send it in .pdf format. We will not make Word documents or other editable forms available through this website.
